In an effort to protect the Galapagos (a UN World Heritage Site), Darwin Animal Doctors treats animals to undo the damage done to the biosphere and protect the Site from the danger of human development. Darwin Animal Doctors is the only full-time veterinary project in the Galapagos, but unlike other veterinaries, they treat all animals that come their way. In addition to spaying/neutering and de-parasiting introduced species to protect the ecosystem, they also treat wildlife that become sick or injured for the Galapagos National Park.
Helping the animals is only part of what they do. Darwin Animal Doctors are also the only group teaching humane conservation education in the Galapagos public schools in an effort to teach locals how to become responsible stewards of the World Heritage Site they call home.
Donations to Darwin Animal Doctors are divided into two categories: the clinic program and the teaching program. Clinic program funding goes towards buying medicines, transporting medical supplies and bringing local vets to work in their clinic long term. Teaching program funding goes towards purchasing necessary presentation materials and teaching infrastructure, such as laptops and software.
