Through public awareness campaigns and providing comprehensive marine protection, WildAid’s mission is to end illegal wildlife trade by reducing demand. Although WildAid is headquartered in the United States, it has programs all over the world including China, India, Ecuador, Canada, UK and Indonesia.
Using the fact that they have world-wide programs, WildAid creates culturally sensitive and customized multimedia public awareness campaigns. Not only that, but they also feature some of the most well-known Western and Chinese stars today, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Yao Ming, Harrison Ford and Jackie Chan. This approach has proven to be highly unique and effective in raising concern over illegal wildlife trade.
Donations to WildAid go straight to the field and are used for their “Conservation through Communication” campaigns. They may also be used to support marine programs in the Galapagos and Indonesia, where they have created models that focus on the law enforcement chain, starting with activities of detection, interception, prosecution and ending with the sentencing of lawbreakers.
